Today, the 4th October, is National Golf Lovers’ Day! ⛳️

Although, if you’re a European, then the golf-loving day of the year was actually Sunday 15th September when Europe scored a stunning victory against the USA in the Solheim Cup. I didn’t have TV coverage but listened to the free radio broadcast offered on the Solheim Cup website. I can honestly say, I nearly fell off our third-floor balcony in my excitement when Suzanne Pettersen sunk that winning putt in the last match on the last hole. Even I couldn’t have written a better ending than that 😉.

But seriously, that day, for me, is what sport is all about, and especially women’s sport. Passion, skill, teamwork, and the kind of emotional scenes at the end that have you declaring, “I’m not crying, there’s just something in my eye.” Beautiful stuff.

Anyway, given that my recent release The Long Shot is all about golf, it seemed like National Golf Lovers’ Day was the perfect time to run a giveaway!

Up for grabs is a signed paperback of The Long Shot, and the winner will also receive this gorgeous little golfer:

I mean, that’s hard to resist, right? The duck has its own set of clubs under one wing, and a golf ball ready to hit under the other. Fore!

To enter the giveaway, simply comment on this post. It’s as easy as that!

I’ll pick the winner at random at 10pm CET on Sunday 6th October.

ps. entry open to anyone – I’ll happily post to wherever you are.

  1. Happy Golf Lovers day… I was there at the Solheim Cup, followed Suzann Pettersen on her rounds & at the 18th with her last putt the atmosphere was amazing! Great week, great sport & great promotion of the womens game!

  2. I played a lot of golf as a junior and always thought I would one day take it back up. But apart from the odd game here or there, it has not been the case. Sadly, I am now selling my Dads golf ride on golf buggy, as he is unable to play anymore. He had to give it up two years ago aged 86. Mum played into her 80s too. So perhaps I can pick it up again soon.

  7. As a golf nut, I would absolutely love to have a copy of this book right on the heels of the best mic drop moment in sports: Suzann sinking that winning putt for Europe and calling it quits immediately. No better exit than that.
